Dr Jana Benzel advises her clients in all areas of corporate and general civil law.
As a specialist lawyer for banking and capital market law, Dr Benzel supports her clients amongst others with regard to banking contracts, fees or supervisory law.
Insolvency law is another focus of Dr Benzel’s practice, in particular the general advice and representation with regard to cases of manager liability and claims arising from insolvency proceedings.
Dr Benzel studied at the Universities of Bremen, Girona (Spain) and Münster. She worked as a research assistant at the Chair for Civil Law, Civil Procedure Law and Corporate Law at the University of Münster and obtained her doctoral degree with a thesis on corporate and insolvency law. She completed the master's degree programme "Business Law & Restructuring" at the University of Münster.
During her legal clerkship, Dr Benzel spent several months at the German Consulate General in Toronto (Canada) and in the legal department of a regional bank. Directly after the successful completion of her legal training, Dr Benzel started working for a major German law firm, where she was the main associate in charge of a banking law mass proceeding. Prior to joining Kümmerlein Rechtsanwälte & Notare in 2019, Dr Benzel worked for another major international law firm in the field of insolvency law.
