Moritz has been working in public law for more than ten years and advises investors and companies on all public law issues. He has many years of experience with regulatory issues in corporate transactions and in the context of restructurings, including licensing, environmental, mining, state aid and investment control law. He has a particular focus on the energy sector and the challenges involved with the energy transition. More recently, he has been increasingly involved in hydrogen ramp-up issues, such as advising on investments in electrolysis companies and providing regulatory and contractual advice on H2 start-up projects. In addition to transaction advice, direct regulatory advice to companies, particularly in the energy, hydrogen, aviation, food and luxury foods sectors, as well as complex civil and administrative court proceedings are a focus of his work.

Curriculum Vitae

Moritz studied law at the University of Bonn and subsequently completed his doctoral thesis on an energy law topic (s.c.l.) under supervision of Prof. Dr. Matthias Schmidt-Preuß. He holds a master's degree (LL.M.) from the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa) and an Executive Diploma in Law and Management from the University of St. Gallen (Switzerland). After completing his practical legal training in Düsseldorf, Moritz worked as a lawyer at Hengeler Mueller for 10 years, since 2020 as Counsel. He joined KÜMMERLEIN as a partner in January 2024.
